Glynn Purnell’s new venture

It’s official. After several months of rumours, it has been confirmed - by the man himself - that celebrity chef Glynn Purnell’s next venture will be in the picturesque Warwickshire town of Henley-in-Arden.

As one of the guests on BBC TV’s Saturday Kitchen today (October 16th), the Yummy Brummie announced that he is taking over The Butcher’s, a traditional pub on the town’s High Street. It will be rebranded as The Mount, named after Henley’s nearby landmark hill and site of a former medieval castle. With a new look and menu devised by the Birmingham-based Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur, it will be open for business under Glynn’s watchful eye in the New Year.

One of the prettiest towns in England, Henley-in-Arden has a mile-long High Street of medieval, Tudor, Georgian and Victorian architecture including 150 historic buildings, shops, pubs and restaurants, and is perfectly poised to become a new foodie destination. It already boasts Cheal’s, where Great British Menu star Matt Cheal serves inspired modern British dishes and is ideally located midway between Stratford-upon-Avon and the affluent Birmingham suburban enclaves of Solihull, Knowle and Dorridge.
